Position: HGV Class 1 Shunter
Location: Preston
Job Type: Temp to Perm
Salary: £196.32 per shift
Shifts: 4 on 4 off – Nights only

Good to Know:

• Yard shunting work only

• No store deliveries or drops

• No handball

• Curtain-sider work

• Night shifts starting between 15:00 – 22:00

Are you an experienced HGV Class 1 Shunter looking for a stable night role? We are currently recruiting reliable and professional drivers to join our team in Preston. This is an excellent opportunity for drivers who prefer yard-based work with consistent shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Shunting trailers safely and efficiently within the yard

• Moving units between loading bays and designated areas

• Ensuring trailers are correctly positioned for loading and unloading

• Carrying out vehicle and trailer safety checks

• Completing all required paperwork accurately

• Maintaining clear communication with the transport and yard team

• Following all health & safety, site, and company procedures

Qualifications & Skills:

• Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence

• Valid CPC qualification

• Previous HGV Class 1 or shunting experience (1 year+ preferred)

• Strong awareness of yard safety and procedures

• Good communication skills

• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently

• Comfortable working night shifts on a 4 on 4 off pattern

• Strong commitment to safety and professionalism
